Rankbrain, the artificial intelligence algorithm of Google, has changed the internet. An article of 3000 words can be ranked for more than a hundred keywords. I am not saying, you should never target the keyword, the keyword is necessary. In this modern age, the keyword in the title, URL, img alt, first 100 words of a paragraph, and somewhere in the middle, last paragraph and the keyword as a partial anchor text as an internal or external link is enough. The RankBrain has the ability to understand. You should optimize your article for other keywords too.

Did you notice? Google used "MAY". It means not all. If Google wants to tell it, it must use "ARE" or "MUST BE" So it means not every link you make is against the quality guidelines. That link you place on your Twitter, Instagram and Facebook profiles are not against the law. Nor the guest post even Google Adsense Official Blog accepts guest posts of other people as you can see the proof here

It means Google loves you, Google helps you. Don't buy 1000+ links for the hope of getting ranked, it should be against the law, why, it would easily detect and deindex yours site. Hai Na Pyar :D

A lot of people get confused when it comes to selecting a keyword because a lot of confusion is being created in the SEO world.

Being short SEO stunt, here we go:

1. Google Adsense: Find informational keywords if you want to run ads on Google Adsense. For example, how to install Windows 10. These are the keywords that provide information on a specific topic.

2. Affiliate Marketing: Find transactional keywords if you want to run an affiliate site. These are the keywords that are used to buy a specific thing. For example, cheap iPhone 7s online, buy iPhone 7s in Pakistan etc.

3. Time Wasting: If you're working on navigational keywords, you're totally wasting your time because such keywords have no use. For example, if you find a keyword like "Gmail Sign Out" it has 348,000 search volume per month, but it has no competition. Check here the competition via Ahref at 

Now what do you think if you write a detailed article, people would love to read about that? Their intent is just to log out. They would click on the first result.

The same goes when you find a keyword "Facebook Login," people want to log in, they would never open the site that exists even at the 3rd spot.

The same goes for the keyword "new york to Chicago" that has 8,000 searches, you think if you write an article on it, you will rank? It has zero competition

Of course, you should never target regardless how much easy it is, and CPC and the search per month volume.

The best technique which is used by the SEOs to check either your site is indexed or not with the site: command.

If the site is showing in Google Search, then it's indexed. Check the cache version also, so it ensures it's indexed. It's the snapshot of the site like Way Back Machine, so it also shows when the site was crawled by Google Bot.

So how you will check either the site is under a penalty? The best is that check all the posts and pages the site have via software like Screaming Frog or any web version.

You can also count via the same command site:example.com

Then check how many posts Google has indexed. If the total posts are 100, but the pages are showing only 1 to 2, then it's 99% in a penalty.

Now, it's time to check either it's penalized by Panda due to the weak content or due to Penguin due to Penguin. If Panda, improve content, avoid keyword stuffing, write quality content.

If Penguin then go to Ahrefs, remove all the toxic links. You can make use of Majestic also that helps in showing the clear anchor text distribution.
