Which Gives A Good Ranking Blog.Website.Com or Website.com/Blog And Starting A Blog or Affiliate Marketing

A lot of people ask me what should I start affiliate marketing or blogging. I say 'ém both.

Is it possible?

Yes, it's possible. It is how all big sites do. Even you visit Techradar, they write amazing articles on technology as well as it sells products. Even you look at Moz that sells its SEO tools as well as write marvelous SEO articles.

What should you need to do? You should find a niche on which great articles can be written as well as it must have some products that can be sold to people.

For example?

Did you remember Bro Abdul Waheed shared a fantastic niche excel file on gaming niche that was about to build a gaming PC. That keywords were low competition having a good volume. You can sell the gaming PC by ranking those keywords as well as writing amazing articles that can be used to attract a large amount of audience.

Do you know gaming PC industry earned 36 billion dollars in 2016? Not Bad!

I don't need to explain that blog.website.com takes a lot of domain in ranking as compared to website.com/blog because Google takes blog.website.com like a new domain.

The best example is of Moz. They have a website Moz.com as well as a blog Moz.com/blog. Always make a blog in a subfolder, not in a subdomain. Some websites make a mistake, but you shouldn't.

I've seen a lot of people of Pakistani blogs where they write amazing content, fantastic On-Page, marvelous headings, they do everything remarkably, but some things destroy everything that is in terms of SEO is named 'Bad User Experience.

Believe it or not! User experience is a ranking factor in the ranking of Google.

If your font size is small, your featured image looks the image of the year of 2000, and text is somewhat outdated red then you will be killed by Google Uncle really really bad. 😛😛

It's the thing that nobody tells you. Have you noticed?

What should you do then? Just follow:

1. Keep your font size between 14px to 16px.

2. Line Spacing must be 130-150% because mixed lines make reading fast and furious.

3. If you don't know what font to apply visit Propakistani and check. Visit Techradar and check.

How to check?

You can check via inspect element as shown here

4.For God Sake, make good images. If you use a poster for an article, make the poster like Copyblogger. Check the posters of all the articles, you will fall in love for sure. Check at Copy Blogger.

5. If you don't like a poster then use free stock images. I use Pixabay. It's the common way of Propakistani

6. Don't write paragraphs that consist of more than 4 to 5 sentences. Follow Backlinko, how he writes amazingly.

I can write more, people like a short love story nowadays! :P

It might be a controversial topic as both versions can be debated. But I will depict my opinion.

As per my view without www is better because:

1. You save 4 characters. Yes, www.=4. In this way, you can place more characters in the permalink of an article.

2. It looks good when you make a backlink for a naked domain. You can write example.com which looks great as compared to www.exmaple.com. Your anchor text looks more natural.

Ok!

It means you want to say you should only buy a domain without www?

Right?

No, No! Some domains look great when you write www with them; others don't.

You can judge the domain is looking good or not if you're regular visitor of websites. As you can see moz.com, majestic.com, ahref.com are all without www. Because these are the SEO companies they know the value of saving 4 characters and other getting backlinks with a good anchor text distribution.

The choice is yours! Otherwise, there is no ranking disadvantage in selecting any of the version. Both work well in term of ranking.

Before explanation, it's important to tell what does a trademark domain mean? It means the domain that has the name of the company that is registered. For example, Facebook, Microsoft, and Whatsapp are trademarks.

You can be fined from up to 50,000$ if you break this rule in the USA.

Now you will ask me how this Status Whatsapp is being run? How I Gmail SignIn this one is working? There are countless such websites exist on the internet.

Then it has followings reasons how these websites can exist.

1. Use fake Whois record so that no company can track you. Almost all the domain registrar don't verify a person via his CNIC or physical home address, they do with their email. So making such a website with fake whois is easy.

2. Use Declaimer that we are not a part of this website. If you buy Facebooktips.com, you can write we are not partnered with Facebook and this website is only for educational purpose. But it always doesn't work. Do you know about DMCA? You can run illegal content websites like cracked websites, cracked software etc. When the owner of the product contacts you with his official email and says to delete that, you do! Jab Tak Wo Faryad Na Kary, Delete Nhi Kiya Jata!

3. The owner team hasn't found the domain. You can buy trademark domain in no time. When you make a website, and it will be indexed in Google, then the owner can detect. Some companies don't care, or look for such domains, so such domains exist.

4. Buying domain from the companies that don't exist in the USA. There are many countries in the world where laws are not applied. You can buy a domain and can do anything. No one will bother you. Nokia Tips is the example of it.

Such people use strong security, proxies, strange operating systems like infamous Linux Distro.

So, if a company is a trademark, you must respect its terms and conditions so that you're not caught otherwise if you use Facebook trademark in domain while in USA, you will be fined with $50,000.

I forgot you to tell that making a backup of MySQL is also important that you can make easily in your hosting cPanel if you've read my previous episode.

Why It's Important?

If you are a regular visitor of Propakistani, a Pakistani e-commerce site didn't make a backup until the site was hacked. They lost everything!

You must have a backup of your site; even it's hacked, you should not worry. You can recover within a few minutes if you have made the backup.

In the future episodes, I will explain how you can protect your sites from being hacked.

If you know Google can immediately deindex your site if it's detected your site has hacked, and it can harm the visitors.

You must check Google Webmaster Tool where you will get a message if your site has been hacked. You can get plugins that create automatically backups and store on Google Drive or Dropbox.

SEO Episode 58:

1. Don't track your Keyword Ranking from Ahrefs. Better use manual way or use "Serplabs".

2. Ahrefs KW Diificulty is the WORST TOOL to follow. Semrush, KW Finder and Moz are better. However Manual way is the best.
.
3. Number of Referring Domains should be looked rather than number of backlinks as Referring Domains are more Important.
.
4. Never Expect HUGE CPC from Low tier countries like INDIA, Pakistan etc. UNLESS YOU ARE WORKING ON SOMETHING SPECIAL.
.
5. A Backlink not showing on Ahrefs doesn't mean that its not indexed. IT MAY OR MAY NOT BE INDEXED.
.
6. You can't do much to index a backlink. No method is 100% perfect.
.
7. Blogger is as good as WP in terms of getting it ranked on Google.
.
8. TLDs (.com, .net. .xyz etc) doesn't really matter much.

.
9. Webmaster tools are updated VERY SLOW. You may have to wait to see the changes. (Changes like, index status, etc)
.
10. Content QUALITY MATTERS as well.
.
11. Getting a sale on Amazon doesn't depend on how many random kw you rank. It hugely depends on how many BUYING keywords you rank. So, 100 clicks to amazon doesn't really mean that you will get a sale unless the clicks are from users who came from a buying kw.
.
12. YOAST SEO is not something that you should worry much about. Focus keyword thing is for you and not for Google.
.
13. It takes time to rank. And this is TRUE even if a keyword is of LOW Competition. So be Patient.
